Adé Bantu
Brought up in Lagos and Cologne, the tall and lean Adé Bantu has been exploring a rare mixture of sounds from his two countries of adoption. His stage name Bantu stands for Brotherhood Alliance Navigation Towards Unity. His eclectic fusions have included a collaboration with the Nigerian Fuji music star Adewale Ayuba. It gave birth to Adé’s second album Fuji Satisfaction, and bagged him an award as the Best Group West Africa in 2005. The rapper is usually accompanied by the 11-person group Afrobeat Academy.

The articulate composer describes his departure from Lagos at the age of 18. He brought with him some of the vibrant sounds of this teeming metropolis and mixed it with the savvy know-how he picked up in Cologne.
Setting: Adé Bantu has been riding on the success of his Fuji Satisfaction album for a couple of years now. During a short visit to the French capital he dropped into the studios of Radio France International for an extensive interview. This exchange was first broadcast by the English weekly programme World Tracks.
